Jeff Brown runs two investment research publishers simultaneously. Brownstone Research, a MarketWise brand, handles his public stock research. Brownridge Research, his own independent firm, handles private securities. The arrangement came from a departure, a startup, and a return, in that order.

Brown founded Brownstone Research in 2015. He built The Bleeding Edge, a free daily e-letter, into a publication with over one million subscribers. The Near Future Report, his flagship paid product, ran under the Brownstone banner for roughly eight years. Then he left. The full Jeff Brown dossier covers the career arc, and the Qualcomm-to-Juniper career retrospective traces the two decades inside semiconductor companies that shaped his method.

His departure was not voluntary. In a June 17, 2024 post on the Brownridge Research website titled “My Big Announcement,” Brown wrote that his exit from Brownstone “wasn’t within my control.” The post does not specify the circumstances.

The 2023 Departure and the Brownridge Launch

Brownridge Research was registered as a Delaware entity in September 2023, according to Brown’s LinkedIn profile. The About page on brownridge.com describes the firm as “the new, highly specialized investment research firm” that Brown launched “for the first time in his 30-plus-year career” as “his own privately owned, independent publishing house.”

The framing on the Brownridge site emphasizes independence. The About page states that the publisher “do[es] not accept money for sponsored content, endorsements, or recommendations” and positions itself as free of “conflicts of interest.” The free daily e-letter at Brownridge is called Outer Limits, a separate product from The Bleeding Edge.

Brownridge’s Meet Jeff page, which is still live, describes Brown as “Founder and Owner of Brownridge Research (Formerly of Brownstone Research & The Bleeding Edge).” The parenthetical is doing work: Brownridge was built as the post-Brownstone vehicle, and its marketing for the first year leaned on the break from his previous publisher.

The June 2024 Return

On June 17, 2024, Brown published the announcement that restructured the whole arrangement. He had “formally re-joined the team at MarketWise (MKTW) as the head of Brownstone Research.” His previous team, including someone named Lindsey, returned with him. The post references a partnership with Porter Stansberry, MarketWise’s Chairman and CEO, that the two had been working on since early 2024.

The return was not a dissolution of Brownridge. Brownridge survived as a separate entity, and the two publishers were assigned different mandates. Per Brown’s own words in the announcement:

  • Brownstone Research (MarketWise) handles publicly traded securities and digital assets. The Near Future Report and Exponential Tech Investor, the two flagship paid products, live here. The Bleeding Edge, the daily e-letter, moved back to Brownstone.
  • Brownridge Research handles privately traded securities and digital assets. The Outer Limits e-letter stays here. The Day One Investor product, which focuses on private Reg CF and Reg A+ deals, operates under the Brownridge banner.

Brown described the structure as “complimentary to one another and non-competitive.” The split is by asset class, not by audience. A subscriber to the Near Future Report gets public stock research from Brownstone. A subscriber to Day One Investor gets private deal research from Brownridge. The same analyst, two publishers, two sides of the public-private line.

What the Restructure Means for Brown’s Products

The product map, as of the 2024 reorganization and confirmed by the publisher’s own materials through 2026:

Brownstone Research (MarketWise):

  • The Bleeding Edge (free daily e-letter, 1M+ subscribers)
  • The Near Future Report ($179 entry product, monthly tech stock recommendations)
  • Exponential Tech Investor (higher-tier product, small-cap growth stocks)
  • Event production co-hosted with Stansberry Research (both under MarketWise)

Brownridge Research (independent):

  • Outer Limits (free daily e-letter)
  • Day One Investor (private Reg CF / Reg A+ deal research)

The 2026 promo activity runs across both publishers. The Near Future Report creative layers, which include the AI Agents, Orbital AI, Anthropic Master Plan, Project MAFA, and the Manifested AGI pitches, all drive to Brownstone. The Day One Investor private deal research runs through Brownridge. The same guru, two publishing pipelines, two affiliate networks.

The MarketWise Connection

MarketWise (NASDAQ: MKTW) is the publicly traded parent company of Brownstone Research. Porter Stansberry, who founded Stansberry Research, serves as Chairman and CEO of MarketWise. The Brown-Stansberry partnership referenced in the June 2024 announcement put both publishers under the same corporate umbrella for the public-stock side of Brown’s work.

The corporate structure matters for a reader trying to understand what they are buying. A Near Future Report subscription is a MarketWise product. A Day One Investor subscription is a Brownridge product. The refund policies, the billing descriptors, the customer service channels, and the corporate accountability all follow the publisher entity. The man behind the analysis is the same. The company behind the billing is not.

What the Record Shows

The publisher transition, reconstructed from Brown’s own published statements and corporate filings:

  • 2015: Brown founds Brownstone Research. The Bleeding Edge and The Near Future Report launch under this banner.
  • 2023 (September): Brownridge Research registered in Delaware after Brown’s involuntary departure from Brownstone. Brownridge launches as an independent publisher with the Outer Limits e-letter.
  • June 17, 2024: Brown announces he has rejoined MarketWise as head of Brownstone Research. Brownridge survives as a separate entity. The two publishers are split by asset class: public securities at Brownstone, private securities at Brownridge.
  • 2025-2026: Brown operates both publishers simultaneously. The Bleeding Edge returns to Brownstone. Day One Investor launches under Brownridge. The Near Future Report and Exponential Tech Investor remain at Brownstone.

The sequence corrects a common misreading. Brownridge is not a 2026 creation, and Brown did not abandon Brownstone when he launched it. He was removed from Brownstone, built Brownridge as a replacement, and then negotiated a return to Brownstone that preserved Brownridge as a separate operation. The result is the dual-publisher structure that exists today.

Why the Split Matters to a Reader

A reader encountering Jeff Brown’s work in 2026 will find him across two publishers with overlapping but distinct product lines. The Near Future Report, where his public stock recommendations live, is a Brownstone product with MarketWise behind it. Day One Investor, where his private deal research runs, is a Brownridge product. The free e-letters are separate publications: The Bleeding Edge at Brownstone, Outer Limits at Brownridge.

The split by asset class is the structural logic. Public stocks are a different regulatory and operational environment from private Reg CF deals. A reader who understands which publisher handles which product can find the right subscription page, the right customer service channel, and the right billing entity without confusion. The analysis comes from the same person. The infrastructure does not. For the full gurus index, see Guru Dossiers.
